ARCHIVED SITE
Project Accompaniment (or Project "A") is a National Network of Canadian
solidarity groups, churches, unions and non-government organizations
(NGO's). It was created in response to a request from Guatemalan refugees
living in Southern Mexico, to provide accompaniment for their collective
return to their Guatemalan homeland. http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1856/index.html |

(NISGUA) |
The Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala
(NISGUA) was formed in 1981 to coordinate local activism on Guatemala
in the United States. At that time, the civil war in Guatemala was
at its most vicious. In 1981 alone, the U.S.-sponsored military government
in Guatemala killed more than 19,000 civilians.
NISGUA emerged as one of the first organizations that dared to voice
strong and continuous criticism of the U.S. government's implication
in these crimes.
The situation in Guatemala-- and the United States-- has changed since
1981, but NISGUA is still one of the strongest and steadiest grassroots
voices for responsible U.S. policy in the region.

A savage civil war drove them into the jungle and out of their beloved
Guatemala. After more than a decade in exile, it's time to come home.
