Developed for school and family use, Global Heroes is the place to meet inspiring Canadians who are truly making a difference around the world. You will find individual profiles and stories, and a wealth of information on how global human rights, environmental, health and economic issues affect our lives in Canada. Interactive scenarios, games and quizzes, radio documentaries, audio interviews and links to the World Wide Web are all presented in a lively and useful format. There are several parts to Global Heroes:

PASSIONATE CONNECTION
(requires Shockwave)

Launched to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Passionate Connection celebrates the role Canadians are playing in protecting human rights, both at home and internationally.

There are features on fascinating Canadians, a history of human rights around the world and in Canada, audio interviews, reports from the frontlines, and news stories that have been broadcast on more than 200 radio stations across Canada.

For teachers, there are lesson plans and curriculum information.

TRAILBLAZERS

Select a Hero to follow and start the adventure. The secondary level stories are designed for high school, and have more background information and more opportunities to link up to other sites throughout the world wide web.

The elementary level stories are designed for grades 5 and 6 and have more quizzes and interactive trails. Those in grades 7 and 8 can try both!

In the section called It's Your Planet, you will find how global issues affect you and some volunteer and career information. In the Trailblazers Staff Room, teachers will find cross-curricular lesson plans, a library page offering annotated resource listings, and a feedback page where teachers and librarians can send their comments or questions.
