IT'S YOUR CAREER

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering, whether it's spending a few hours a month in your community, or going overseas for an extended period, can be a great experience. Just some of the reasons volunteers like what they do:
  • it's fun
  • you can find out more about fields that interest you
  • you feel great
  • volunteer positions are always great resume enhancers and can actually lead to jobs!
  • you meet interesting people
There are as many volunteer opportunities as there are non-profit organizations in Canada. Below are just a few organizations looking for student volunteers:

International Opportunities

Canada World Youth

Canada World Youth offers international educational exchanges, work placements, community and family living experiences, volunteer work and conferences. In 1996-97 over 1,000 young people from Canada and from more than 20 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Central and Eastern Europe will participate in one of Canada World Youth's programs.

World University Service Canada

In Canada, WUSC Local Committees are active on Canadian post-secondary campuses. They contribute to international understanding by organizing development education activities and by sponsoring student refugees to come to Canada to complete their education. In addition, WUSC has a growing variety of programs which enable university and college students to work and study in developing countries.

Environmental organizations
Greenpeace Canada

Greenpeace Canada is an international organization which was founded in Canada in 1971 when members of the Don't Make A Wave Committee in Vancouver, Canada, renamed their organization to better proclaim their purpose: to create a GREEN and PEACEful world. Greenpeace is best known for non-violent direct actions which raise awareness and bring public opinion to bear on decision makers.
