Tenorio National Park
The Arenal Volcano Park is well established and visited frequently
by tourists. But others areas are still being developed.
Tenorio Volcano Park is at the other end of the Arenal Conservation
Area. It's beauty is still hidden because it has not been developed
for tourists.
One of its major attractions is the Celeste waterfall. But it's
a long trek along a muddy path and down several cliffs.
These falls are called celeste or sky blue in Spanish because
of the sky blue colour of the water.
While some trekkers oppose the idea of making parks such as this
one more accessible to tourists - tourists play an important role
in its conservation. Entrance fees will support research and staff
to conserve the natural beauty of the park.
