Las Baulas National Park
Baulas National Park stopped poaching and development on the
beach. At night it is off limits without a guide. During the day,
the beaches are open to swimmers and vacationers. But rangers
keep a close eye on the beach. They move anyone who can't read
a sign that marks where the turtles lay their eggs.
Established in 1990, it was not formalized into law until 1995.
There are three beaches Playa Grande (3.5 km) Playa Langosta (1.3
km) and Playa Ventanas (1.0 km). The park also includes the Tamarindo
estuary with the largest mangrove estuary in Central America.
The park extends 12 miles offshore.
