UNICEF Canada Originally
established in 1946 to meet the urgent needs of children in war-devastated
Europe, UNICEF has become the focal point for non-partisan international
concern for the well-being of children and women, especially in countries
with very limited economic resources of their own. UNICEF is a permanent,
integral part of the United Nations system, but it is also entirely dependent
on voluntary contributions from governments, non-governmental organizations
and individuals to accomplish its work.
